Material Delivery
Fill, road base and materials, delivered where the truck can actually get
Supply and cartage of clean fill, VENM, road base and other landscaping and construction materials. The same vehicles that take spoil off a site bring material onto it, which is why the return trip is worth planning rather than leaving empty.

Before anything starts
Six things have to be settled first, and not all of them are ours
Most jobs that run late run late on this list rather than on the work itself. Each line says who owns it.
- 01
What material and what specification
Who You, with your engineer where it is structural
Road base under a driveway and clean fill under a lawn are different products.
- 02
Volume
Who Both of us
From levels where they exist, rather than from an estimate by eye.
- 03
Where it is going on site
Who Both of us
Tipped where it is needed is cheaper than tipped at the gate and moved twice.
- 04
Access and standing
Who Both of us
Which decides the vehicle and the number of loads.
- 05
Who is placing it
Who Both of us
Delivered and tipped, or delivered and placed in layers, are different scopes.
- 06
Documentation needed
Who Max
VENM and clean fill carry source and classification paperwork.
Scope
What the quote does and does not cover
Stated side by side so there is nothing to discover later. Anything in the right hand column can be added, it is simply priced separately.
Included as standard
| Item | What that means |
|---|---|
| Supply | Of the specified material |
| Cartage | Delivered to site, scheduled to the programme |
| Tipping to a nominated point | Where access allows |
| Documentation | Source and classification records for the material |
| Vehicle matched to access | Truck and dog or tipper as the site allows |
| Coordination | Scheduled against spoil removal where both apply |
Quoted separately
| Item | Why it is separate |
|---|---|
| Placement and compaction | A separate scope under Fill Supply and Land Repair |
| Specification | Decided by your engineer |
| Spreading beyond the tipping point | Machine work, quoted separately |
| Material testing | Consultant work |
| Delivery where access is unsuitable | Assessed before rather than attempted |
| Storage on site | Material is delivered to the programme, not stockpiled indefinitely |
The detail
What makes a delivery straightforward
- Knowing the specification. Ordering by name is not enough. Road base, clean fill and VENM are different materials with different uses and different prices.
- Knowing the volume. From levels where they exist. A guess ends in either a shortfall or a stockpile nobody wants.
- Knowing where it goes. Tipped where it is needed, not tipped at the gate and handled twice.
- Knowing what can get in. A truck and dog delivers more per trip and needs room. On a tight residential street it may not be the right vehicle.
- Scheduling against the work. Material that arrives before the site is ready is material that is in the way.
- Pairing it with spoil removal. If both are happening, the same movement should do both.
What we need to quote it
- The address
- So we can look at access and what is around it
- Photographs
- One from the street and one of the work itself
- Any reports you hold
- Hazardous materials, structural, survey or levels
- Your dates
- What has to be finished by when, and what is waiting on it
We attend the site before quoting anything substantial.
If it has to be placed and compacted as well
That is a separate scope: material placed in layers to a specification and compacted, rather than delivered and tipped.

Tell us the material and where it goes
Material, volume and where on the site it has to land. If spoil is also leaving, say so, because the same movement can do both.
- Material supplied with source and classification documented
- Vehicle matched to the access rather than to the volume
- Paired with spoil removal where both apply
